Our laboratory is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that cells use to sense and respond to toxic environmental stress agents. We use the nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans to uncover underlying genetic factors that regulate these cellular stress responses.
The key questions we are interested in answering are:
- What are the signaling pathways and mechanisms cells use to detect and respond to toxic chemicals?
- Can deregulation to genetic components of stress signaling pathways influence aging and disease development?
